Psychological Services

Individual therapy for anxiety, trauma, PTSD and post-accident adjustment

A core Safe2Go service

Psychological support sits at the centre of the Safe2Go model, not at the edge of it. Our registered psychologist works with people affected by motor vehicle accidents, workplace injury, trauma and anxiety — whether or not they ever get behind the wheel with us. You do not need to be enrolled in a driving program to access therapy here.

What we offer

Psychological Services at Safe2Go

Safe2Go is a multidisciplinary, trauma-informed rehabilitation service. Our team includes a registered psychologist, occupational therapists and rehabilitation driver trainers who work together around one recovery plan.

For many of our clients, the psychological impact of an accident is the part that lasts longest. Physical injuries heal on a reasonably predictable timeline. Hypervigilance on the road, intrusive memories of the crash, panic when a car merges too close, avoidance that quietly shrinks a person's world — these need treatment in their own right.

That is what our psychological services are for. We provide assessment, individual therapy and graded exposure work for people whose lives have been disrupted by trauma, injury or anxiety. Where driving is one of the things they have lost, we can join the psychological work directly to on-road rehabilitation — but therapy is a complete service on its own.

Who we work with

  • People recovering from a motor vehicle accident, as a driver, passenger, cyclist or pedestrian
  • Clients managing PTSD, acute stress, or post-traumatic symptoms following a crash
  • People with generalised anxiety, panic disorder or specific phobias affecting daily function
  • Workers adjusting after a workplace injury, including WorkCover clients
  • Anyone experiencing post-accident adjustment difficulties — low mood, irritability, sleep disruption, loss of confidence
  • Clients referred by CTP insurers, case managers, rehabilitation consultants, GPs and allied health professionals

Areas of practice

What we treat

Anxiety

Generalised anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety and situational anxiety, including anxiety that has narrowed what a person feels able to do.

Trauma and PTSD

Post-traumatic stress following motor vehicle accidents, workplace incidents and other traumatic events — intrusive memories, hypervigilance, avoidance and emotional numbing.

Post-accident adjustment

The slower, quieter aftermath of an accident — grief for lost function, frustration with recovery, changes to identity, work and family roles.

Driving-specific fear

Driving phobia, fear of being a passenger, and the avoidance patterns that build up after a crash, treated with graded, evidence-based exposure.

How it works

Starting with psychological support

  1. 1

    Initial contact

Call 1800 867 277 or send an enquiry. We'll talk through what's happened and what you're finding hard, with no obligation and no assessment on the spot.

  2. 2

    Psychological assessment

A full session with our registered psychologist to understand your history, symptoms, goals and any claim or referral context. You'll leave with a clear picture of what treatment would involve.

  3. 3

    Individual therapy

Regular sessions using evidence-based approaches, paced to you. Frequency is agreed together and reviewed as you progress.

  4. 4

    Integration with rehabilitation

If and when you're ready, psychological work can run alongside an OT driver assessment and graded on-road rehabilitation, with the whole team sharing one plan.

One-to-one

Individual Therapy

Confidential, one-to-one sessions with a registered psychologist for anxiety, trauma, PTSD and post-accident adjustment.

  • Evidence-based treatment tailored to your presentation
  • Trauma-informed, paced to your recovery
  • Available privately or through CTP and WorkCover

Wherever you are

Telehealth & Zoom

Appointments by Telehealth or Zoom, so distance, pain, transport or driving avoidance never becomes the reason treatment stops.

  • Same psychologist, same standard of care
  • Available across NSW and beyond
  • Ideal when travel is part of the problem

Funding and referrals

How psychological services are paid for

We work with clients across a range of funding arrangements and are experienced in the documentation each one requires.

  • CTP claims. Psychological treatment is frequently approved as part of a Compulsory Third Party claim following a motor vehicle accident. We can liaise directly with your insurer or claims manager.
  • WorkCover and workers compensation. We accept referrals for psychological support where a workplace injury has affected mental health, function or capacity to return to work.
  • Case managers and rehabilitation consultants. We report clearly and on time, and we're used to working inside an existing rehabilitation plan rather than alongside it.
  • GP and allied health referrals. We welcome referrals from GPs, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other treating professionals.
  • Private and self-funded clients. No referral is needed. Call us and we'll arrange an appointment.

If you are unsure which of these applies to you, call 1800 867 277 and we'll help you work it out.

FAQs

Commonly Asked Questions

1. Is Safe2Go a driving school?

No. Safe2Go is not a driving school — we are a specialised rehabilitation service. Our team includes a registered psychologist, occupational therapists and rehabilitation driver trainers who work together to help people return to driving after accident, injury, trauma or a medical condition. We do not teach learner drivers to pass a test.

2. What experience do you have?

Safe2Go has over 15 years of experience supporting people living with driving phobia, driving anxiety, PTSD, GAD and adjustment disorder. If we had to summarise our program in one word, it would be freedom.

3. Do you offer psychological services?

Yes. Psychological support is a core part of what we do, and it is available on its own — you do not have to be enrolled in a driving program to see our psychologist. We provide individual therapy for anxiety, trauma, PTSD and post-accident adjustment, available in person, by Telehealth or over Zoom.

4. Do you accept CTP and WorkCover clients?

Yes. We regularly work with:

  • CTP (Compulsory Third Party) insurers and claimants
  • WorkCover and workers compensation matters
  • Case managers and rehabilitation consultants
  • GP, psychologist and allied health referrers
5. What's next?
  • Call 1800 867 277 or send an enquiry and we'll talk through where you're at
  • We match you to the right starting point — psychological support, an OT driver assessment, or graded on-road rehabilitation
  • You progress at your pace, from fear of driving to freedom
